Upcoming print release with RHODES Editions

I’ve been working on a new mini-series called Ode to the Bed. The bed is, of course, the most democratic piece of furniture ever invented. We all end up there eventually... for sleep, for recovery, for conversation, for plotting the next day’s ambitions, or simply hiding from it.

The idea grows out of my Paramour series from 2016. Ten years on, it felt like the right moment to return to it. Back then the work was a little more provocative; now the idea has softened and matured, becoming something quieter and more refined, reflecting how my practice has evolved over the past decade.

Alba - Giclée with Screenprinted Varnish Overlay on Canson Rag Photographique 310 gsm Paper
Edition of 40 - 62 x 60 cm

The works form a diptych that moves through the cycle of a day. Alba, named after the Italian and Spanish word for dawn, shows a reclining figure facing outward, her body open to the soft light of morning. Vesper, derived from the Latin word for evening, turns the figure away as the day dissolves into stillness. Together, the works trace a subtle shift between arrival and retreat, presence and quiet withdrawal.

Vesper - Giclée with Screenprinted Varnish Overlay on Canson Rag Photographique 310 gsm Paper
Edition of 40 - 62 x 60 cm

Rather than presenting the body as spectacle, I’m interested in it as something lived within — a form that holds the small, universal rituals of daily life. The imagery draws on fleeting moments that many of us recognise: lying back on cool linen, the windows open, curtains moving gently in the breeze, the day slowly leaving the body. You’re in the best bed you’ve ever been in.

These prints go live on the RHODES Editions Drop Site 26th March at 4pm (GMT)
